Curses, ghosts, witches, prophecies of death — when ordinary people become convinced that something supernatural is destroying their lives, they turn to Andrii Debrin and his team of investigators. Every case looks like pure mysticism. And every time, the team keeps digging until they find the very human truth hiding behind it.
About the project
True Mystery is a scripted mystery series produced by Telepro for Ukraina TV. It premiered in December 2015, ran until 2021 and became one of the channel's daytime hits; it was also broadcast in Russia on Domashniy, and in 2019 the format was sold to the Polish company Polcast. The series was twice nominated for Teletriumf, Ukraine's national TV award (2015 and 2018).
In 2016 I directed six episodes of the third season, shooting on location and in the studio at 8 to 25 minutes of screen time a day. On TV each episode reached an average of 21 million viewers, and on YouTube they have between 300,000 and 4.8 million views. My episode Toothless Motrya (original title: Беззуба Мотря [Bezzuba Motria]) is the most watched of the series online, and it is still doing its job. As one viewer put it in the comments: "Now I'm scared to go outside to poop."
